Fix: DrWatson Round 3

I had discovered the initial solution to the Acebot Trojan virus which triggered errors from DrWatson PostMortem Debugger.

However, that problem no longer exists. A new one does... and I am proud that one of our members here, Tim, has found a VERY effective solution to this problem!

Some information:

If you are browsing through folders that have videos and most likely thumbnails, there is an apparent problem with the video codecs displaying the actual thumbnails.

By updating, or removing trouble codecs, you should resolve your problem! No HJT logs are neccessary!

ok, got a call from my boyfriend, he says he's been attacked by this too

what happened: he said that he was going through some media files when his computer froze (nothing would load or anything) and would not shut down so he turned it off at the plug.
He tried to restart his computer but apparently it just will not boot up the operating system so i tried to go online for him to find a command prompt for him to use.
then he rung me up and told me to look up this dr watson post mortem thing.
i know nothing about computers. I have tried to follow all the details but i think i'm right in saying that because he cant load his comp (Window XP home) not even in safe mode, then surely he can't upload 'HiJackThis'?

please help, we're stumped at what to do and that computer has alot of files we need to keep.

I have recently encountered this error (Dr. Wats..), and am a tad uncertain about the whole thing. I was not browsing movie folders at the time of the error, instead killing winamp after finishing a movie (I don't know if there is any difference there or whatnot about the codec idea). I have recently reformatted my computer (It was loaded with crap), and have installed my basic precautions. I.E. Spybot. I do not download, or pirate, if you will. Out of fear of something god horrid happening, I added on to that a registry checker, and adaware. Done scans and all, but not much turns up. Still convinced that I have some issues, I performed a HiJackThis sweep, and not knowing how to read it, do not really know where else to turn.

If you have time to read it, great I would love to hear your feedback. If you do not have the time for a read.. thanks anyways for your time and input about the error in it's entirety. And thank you very much for the info you have posted for everything thus far. Been a good read.

*This was typed yesterday before I knew there was another thread about this. It's on one of the older threads.

Ok. This error happened to me about 15 minutes ago after I exit the game Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. Now generally, since my machine is not a top of the line gaming machine, my system slows down a little right after exiting the game (same for C&C3). I've clicked on Firefox and I clicked on my start menu to access C: drive. That was when Explorer crashed (it's done that once before) But right after that, I got a Dr Watson error right after it. It was on the same window (Send/Don't Send) It said Explorer on the top, then it changed to the Dr. Watson one. I've looked at other posts here and noticed log files longer than mine. But since I don't know about this yet, I just thought I'd make sure. This is the very first time I've ever gotten this since I've been using Windows. Hopefully it's readable. I would rather post this first and get an opinion, before I go through the whole process. Whomever reads this and replies, thank you for your time!

hi, just woke up this afternoon and i noticed my pc has been freezing for several times now and suddenly pops up something like drwatson debugger, tried to google it and found this forum.. while i was sleeping, my husband was using this pc and his friend sent him this video file, we already had the video before we just asked him to send it again.. i noticed he has been restarting the pc for several times thats why i woke up and tried it on.. same thing happened..

i downloaded hijackthis and this is what i got.. please do help me, this pc has just been reformatted last week and i hope we could solve this without having it reformatted again.. pls pls

I know most of you here faced this problem with MrWatson, I read the thread, and sorry for bouncing it back again. I followed all instructions, but did not resolve the problem.

My problem is when i start my computer, it just freezes and i get a notification error 'MrWatson Debugger', Sometime though it manages to defreeze (like now), the problem seems to be in explorer i think. I have checked all possible files 32 and others posted earlier in the previous thread...my log file is the followin, would really appreciate your help gents...thanks in advance

First of all id like to say thank God there are people out there trying to take care of this problem, i've had it for a while and i only found the original "watson" thread not too long ago. After struggling for few days going over all threads with the DrWatson debuger error...I managed to fix the problem....

Go to the following link, and do a free scan or more specific a housecall free scan using Trend Mirco...and your nightmares will be over..atleast the above one....It worked with me..wish it works with you as well...
